Young, aspiring actors know what they need to start out right in their careers: a proper headshot photo. We've seen actors come to our studio who come prepared and are aware that their headshot photo needs to be multi-purpose, as they are still working at a non-acting job.
A proper headshot photo for our actor clients is an investment. We've had parents come in with their children paying for the kids' headshots in the hope that they land a role. At times, we learn that our young aspiring actor saved up to have that headshot photo that may be the ticket to being included in the casting agency.
They are also aware that acting headshots need not be posy or dramatic. It must be as authentic as possible.
Authenticity in the actor's headshot photo is huge. It has to be as close as possible to the person that the casting director will see. We always have a conversation about the movie La La Land, as that is the brutal reality of an aspiring actor.
One cannot help but appreciate the intentionality of the actors who we have worked with. Putting yourself out there and endeavouring to enter a cut-throat industry is not for the faint-hearted. Props as well to the parents who pay for the sessions and, at times, go with their kids to support them. It is a commendable parent-child bond.
