Companies, big or small, go through a rebranding phase. This is usually brought about by changes in the direction and focus of the company among others. Our client is one of those companies who recently rebranded. She went to us 6 months ago to have her headshot taken because her Human Resource company website and LinkedIn profile needed one. We did her headshot as shown below.
Fast forward to today. Her company started becoming known for its health and safety expertise and so it has rebranded with that focus in mind. There is now a new website with a new name to go with it. She decided to update her look altogether in keeping with the new direction as shown below.
It is quite common for people not to update their headshots. There are a number of reasons why.
That One Trick Pony Thinking: Some think that they will never look that 'good' again. This is where we tell them that they can have their headshot taken again and we can reproduce yet another engaging headshot for them.
The relationship with Brands and Headshots: Brands can get old and feel stale. Hence, companies spend money to give their brands a lift. On LinkedIn in particular, that thumbnail-sized headshot of ours act as our own personal brand. If something has already changed in the company we represent, it would be wise to update our headshots as well to give freshness to our new website.
The Misunderstanding of their Brand Message: When a company rebrands, it is, more often than not, communicating something different from its previous branding. Therefore, the updated photo should communicate the new message. With our client above, the new focus of the company on a relevant and urgent issue within the business landscape necessitated a stronger and more confident headshot.
We're honoured to have been chosen by our client to do her headshot again during her company rebranding. We like growing with our clients and being part of that growth. After all, we both want the same thing: for their images to connect and engage with their audience which is a step towards a sale.

Agnes McKay - Great blog and great photo. I have sent the blog to my husband who has set up a new Chiro clinic in Tauranga. He is camera shy. When I join him from Perth in a few months time and set up my legal practice I would love to check out your services and expertise.
Kind regards
Agnes
